Random Thoughts

Today was my last day of working for Dorian Studio doing school photography and though I am sad to leave the job, in a lot of ways I’m very happy to be finished. The biggest thing that drove me nuts about the job is the seniors who would try to give you crap. Sometimes you just tell them you can’t take a silly picture and they are cool and just let you take the picture. But every once in a while you end up with someone who wants to make a big fuss out of it. I had a girl to day who told me I was violating her rights by not letting her take a silly picture. What really makes me mad about when they do it is that they don’t understand it is not up to the photographer but rather a school policy. The kids basically are saying they could care less about us.

On the flip side, I had a couple of girls today tell me how thankfull they were that I told them their hair was kind of frizzy and then had them fix it. Apparently several of them had pictures taken in the past where their hair was all crazy and the photographer didn’t say anything. This is what actually made things worth while. For every senior who gives you crap, to hear from someone who says that you are a great photographer because their picture turned out really well.

Anyway, I’m pretty whiped right now from getting up so early the last few days so if this post doesn’t make much sense, that is why. I am getting set to start packing in ernest tomorrow and then I’ll have my going away party tomorrow night. Hopefully by mid afternoon Saturday I’ll be on the road and headed south for the winter. Sunday I’ll be in Danville for the night and then Monday I’ll roll into Mt Hermon around noon. Maybe I’ll post again before I get down there otherwise I’ll see you in Cali!
