I really should post more often
So I have spent this weekend doing some more cooking and came to the conclusion that confections really aren’t as hard to make as you might think. I have been practicing making caramel sauces. I’m finding it to be pretty easy actually since I found a recipe that doesn’t require me to watch a thermometer. I tried first with an Alton Brown recipe for caramel and found it really didn’t work well. So then I tried again with a simpler recipe and it worked much better. I started tinkering with it too, adding things that I think make it better. I added a little bit of vanilla and some brown sugar. The only thing I haven’t been able to get rid of yet is a slight bitter/burnt taste. Still, I think it is good enough to debut when I have an open house this week. I’ve decided that since I’ve now been here for a month I should go ahead and invite people over. Anyway, time for bed now!
