So I went over to San Jose on Saturday and bought a new guitar at Guitar Center and I have been having a blast with it ever since. I think it is important to have a creative outlet that is mind stimulating to help you unwind. As fun as it can be to come home from work and blow stuff up in some computer game, it is very calming and refreshing to sit down and play for a hour. I love just sitting around my apartment singing and playing as loud or soft as I want. I had forgotten how much I missed playing since I didn’t get to bring my classical guitar down from Seattle. The new guitar I bought is a steel string. The other thing I have noticed, other than how weak my fingers have become, is just how different the steel string sounds. Songs that didn’t sound quite right with the nylon strings of the classical guitar sound perfect with the steel strings. I made sure to invest in a decent guitar too so it isn’t at all twangy. Anyway, it’s pretty late so I best be getting to bed.
