Hiking and longing
So I went for a hike today up to Big Basin State Park and it was just a little bit colder than I thought. After watching shows like Survivorman and Man vs Wild I have heard them talk about the danger of sweating in cold weather. Well, I never quite understood what they were talking about until today. On the way out for my hike, I didn’t notice the cold much because I was busy hiking. Then, after I sat down for lunch and started hiking again, I got cold. Not just like chilly, I was freezing. And what you don’t realize, your cotton clothing doesn’t keep any heat when it is wet. It is like carrying an air conditioner around on your back with it turned up to full blast. So while the hike was rather uneventful, at least I learned something.
I also have been looking at more dogs this weekend. I realized that 25 lbs still isn’t a very big dog. So now I’m looking more at 30-35 lbs. The three breeds I have been looking at most are the Shelti, Cocker Spaniel, and Australian Sheepdog. I want something small enough to be manageable but big enough to play fetch. Anyway, I’ll keep you updated on that.
