Well, it’s still a few hours and an OS install away from being totally up and running but I’m right now typing this on my new home built PC!  I’ve made a couple of trips back and forth to Fry’s electronics in the last few days and I managed to get just about everything I need to get it up and running.  I’m running a technically illegal copy of Windows XP Home right now that I installed just to make sure the hardware is working and about 90% of it is.  I think the stuff that isn’t up and running yet is mostly legacy issues that should be resolved when I bump it up to Vista.  I think I can definitely say that I won’t ever be buying a pre-assembled desktop ever again.  The choice and flexibility building your own machine gives you is just too valuable, not to mention the fact that I saved ~$500.  Anyway, it’s pushing on toward 2am so I best be getting to bed.  I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to express my geekiness though by giving a big “Hello World” shout-out!
