Halo 3 First Impressions

I’m getting old.  Long gone are the days of marathon gaming from college where I could sit down and play a game nearly straight through.  I picked up Halo 3 at lunch today and was all set to spend the night gaming.  I planned everything out so that the only break I would have to take would be a brief run to Safeway for dinner.  I was going to game for 8 hours straight after work.  Well, it’s now 11pm and I’ve played about 4 hours of the game and I’m exhausted.  I suppose it is for the best however, it isn’t very healthy to spend all day sitting in front of a TV.  But I digress. . .

First impressions?  Wicked awesome, 10 out of 10.  This is the game that Halo 2 should have been.   The graphics (even on my standard def TV) are awesome, the sounds are awesome, the gameplay is awesome, the story is AMAZING!  The game play picks right back up where the last game left off and Master Chief is the roxors.  I think part of why I feel so tired after playing is the pace of the game.  You feel the urgency of the game as you play through it and you run from checkpoint to checkpoint hoping that with each new level you are one step closer to victory.  I agree that this game will sell consoles and could well push the 360 over the top.  Anyway, no spoilers yet, I’ll wait till I finish to comment on the story.  Later!
