on Honduras: Part 1
So sometime going along a curvy mountain highway somewhere in between San Pedro Sula and Copan in a bus with no air conditioning and a sick stomach full of chips and banana flavored soda (bad choice, btw), I was not having a whole lot of fun. Traveling by yourself sucks. 8 hours in the Detroit airport coming back from Uganda with a group of friends? No problem at all. Sitting by myself for 9 hours in the Houston airport wishing for a flat bench I could lay down on? Torture. Lest you think at this point I am misirable, that is not the case. It certainly is warm and muggy down here, but it has yet to be really, really hot. (knock on wood) So as I’m sitting here typing this, enjoying a wonderful cup of coffee, and uploading a few photos to flickr, I can say I’m having a great time. I slept for 13(!) hours last night, I’ve taken two showers, and I’m about to take my first moto-taxi ride up to Mayatan to have lunch with Zach. I’m finding my Spanish still passable in a pinch and where it’s not, laughs at my expense are shared by everyone including myself.
All right, I’d better get going, I’m not sure how long it takes to get up to the school but I figure it’s better to be a little early. Though I also get the feeling that Copan makes Santa Cruz look punctual.
Adios!
